Morlee Court

Over at 1831 SE Hawthorne, Morlee Court has a one-bedroom for $795/mo. According to their craigslist ad, it has hardwoods and french doors. From the pictures it looks like they still have the old steam radiators. I love steam heat. Here I thought the market was calming down a bit, but maybe not if they can get $795. It seems like all of these apartments are pretty viewless except for the ones facing east and south. Oh, and I think it's interesting that everyone feels they have to mention how far they are from Starbucks in apartment ads. 503-233-4332.

We have good freinds who lived at Morlee Court. The only thing that they can come up with for living there for years, and suddenly being given a no-cause eviction is they have a loosely set down demerit system. They keep score. When your score exceeds their point limit, whatever that may be, you are subject to non-renewal of your lease. They said they are pleased with their new digs. But, they were kicked out in January of this year. A mean spirited thing to do during a Portland Winter. Because it was the right thing to do, my friends cleaned up the apartment until it was spotless. They not only didn't get a sizeable damage deposit back but were given a bill above their deposit. No itemization, just a bill. It seemed mean spirited. Plus, having lived in the building for years, they cultivated friends in the building, one of which plans on going to visit a friend. They are going out of town, according to a spy in the building who is friends with the owner. She is not allowed to let our friends in the building let alone the property, so as to plant sit for them. Again, no reason given. To make a long story short, they were given a no cause eviction. They also have some heavy handed management techniques,in that, the property manager takes their issues out on the tenants. If you like Post traumatic stress syndrome you may want to consider Morlee Court as your temporary home away from home.
