Lynnwood Apartments 110

UPDATE 8/4/07: application pending
You know that I'm not a good salesman, because I pretty much always try to call it like I see it. That being said, Lynnwood 110 would be a great apartment if it had hardwood floors. Unfortunately, I blew the budget fixing up 107 so this one has to hold on to its carpet for a while. Here's what it looks like:

The current resident is moving out on August 15th so it should be ready no later than August 21st. The rent is only $545, and that includes water, sewer, garbage, hot water, and heat. It's about 340 square feet of CARPETED goodness. This unit was destroyed by a fire in 1999, so the kitchen cabinets have a certain "O Town" or "98 Degrees" quality to them. There is no hardwood under the carpet, so unfortunately you can't just rip out the carpet yourself. Bummer.
As usual, there's a six-month lease. Application fee is $40, move-in fee is $100, and deposit is $200-$545 depending on your credit and rental history. I can probably start showing it in person toward the end of this week, so give me a call if you'd like to check it out at 503.231.9169.

Hawthorne Court

I just got back from vacation and noticed that Kathy at Hawthorne Court has another one-bedroom available according to her sign. Last one she rented was only $650, so this is an awesome deal. Let me know if it's rented already so I can remove this post and save her 100 phone calls.

Walk Score

Walkscore is a neat site that tells you how walkable your neighborhood is. Most people would have to put the term walkable in quotes, but since my apartments are in 97214 it seemed pretty unnecessary. The Lynnwood gets an 89/100, but the Queen Marie gets an 87/100. I spent a few minutes on that site with different addresses around town but couldn't break 89--even with downtown. Wonder what gets a 100?
By the way, I have a studio coming up at Belmont Court August 20th. It has carpet, so don't call unless you're either desperate or from a land where carpet is acceptable.

1937 SE Stark

You might recognize this little 5-plex from their occasional vacancies posted on craigslist, or you might not. I don't know if they have anything open or not right now, but I did want to pass on this bit of information: Today I saw a realtor (the mortal enemy of apartment managers like me) carrying a folder with "1937 SE Stark" written on it. The only thing worse than a realtor is, I'm afraid, a realtor with a folder in his or her hands. It's like seeing a hyena with a water buffalo intestine in its mouth. Except there's no voice-over by David Attenborough making it sound interesting.

Valencia

Is it odd that the Valencia rents studios for the same price that some other buildings on Hawthorne rent one-bedrooms? Well, I guess not if there's a market for it. Besides, the Valencia is pretty much the bees' knees. I think their no-pets policy eliminates about 75% of the people I know, since it seems we all have a cat for some reason. Even my over-compensatingly masculine friend Shane has a cat; granted it IS named after 80s hair metal band Tesla. The Valencia has a studio for $635 and one for $650. It's at 1430 SE Hawthorne, and their number is 503.235.2442. But seriously, it's too hot to go looking for apartments today.

1024 SE 16th

This little converted 6-plex has a neat studio coming up for $595. According to her craigslist ad, she's having an open house on the 8th. My advice to you would be to get an application and submit it before the open house. The application fee is only $25 so I'd say it's worth the risk of you hating the place. You know that the first person that looks at it tomorrow is going to be ready with a completed application in hand. 503-232-4450

1526 se hawthorne

UPDATE 7/6/07: A little bird told me that she may have 2 more units coming up this month, so you might give her a call. This is probably going to be gone before I hit the "publish post" button, but 1526 SE Hawthorne has a one-bedroom available for $725. Built in 1925, it's a little 11-plex that has, according to their craigslist ad, a cooperative vegetable garden. When I snapped this pic, there was a girl buzzing the manager and two other people filling out applications on the lawn. Everything is getting snatched up so quickly these days. When someone gives me a 30-day notice, I kinda chuckle. 503-680-7367

Lynnwood #112

Wow. I haven't seen any new listings worth posting for a while. Not for a lack of looking or anything. I got a 30-day notice yesterday for a small studio at 1634 SE Hawthorne. It's on the back corner of the building facing west and south. Hardwood floors, walk-in closet, 1921 charm, etc. $540/mo includes water, sewer, garbage, hot water, heat.
